Default Headlight Fasteners

Hey Guys,

Taking off the fairings tonight to re-attach the headlight to the cowl as it appears to be loose inside the fairings. I think it only has one bolt holding it in place instead of the 4 !

Does anybody know what size / thread the bolts that hold the headlight in place are? It's just so I can buy some ready incase I need them later tonight.

I'm guessing they're probably M4 x something or other?

Many thanks,

Kevin.

Kev,
Just a thought, but if you are off to B & Q, you can get at the headlight assembly without lifting the fairings by using the access panel under headlight, therby maybe getting a bolt to take with you. I didnt even know the panel existed, so might be helpful. Let me knwo how you get on.

Thanks for the tip Chris, I've looked at this already, and it looks pretty tight for getting a hand in to remove a screw, so I think i'll just have to take the whole cowl off. I've got a selection of M4 and M5 bolts to take home with me tonight, so fingers crossed at least 1 of them will fit.

Thanks for now, and i'll let you know how I get on.

Right I did the job last night and guess what? yup all the inserts for holding the mounting bolts were broken !

So after much fiddling removing the brass threaded inserts from the old panels I took off, I then managed to epoxy them into the relevant places in the old fairing and it's holding as good as new. So in answer to my own question, the headlight mounting bolts are M6 x 12 (or at least the ones I used were!)

Nice to have a rattle free bike once again when I go over bumps, never realised just how much noise the busted fairings caused!

Thanks for now,

Kev.
