Hey guess what Steve , you were dead right mate and I got my wobble back , so its back to getting my hands dirty again

Off to work tomorrow so it'll have to wait untill tuesday before I can have another look at her .

I think Swisherred and I may have the same problem , when I was out on the other rest runs I must have been in too high a gear to kick it off , it also happened on a much steeper downhill stretch . So it's maybe caused by the weight on the front wheel?

Strange though that it disappears as soon as I hold the bars again

Used Nevadas method for checking alignment and it seems OK but I'll do it again when I can borrow an extra pair of hands , was a little difficult with the centre stand getting in the way

Default Brought back from the dead!

OK guy's , sorry to revive a long dead thread , but I got a bit more info and hopefully a positive outcome

Had the front tyre changed last week , should'a checked when I was at the shop but got home to find they had fitted the tyre the wrong way round

Was actually looking for the spot that shows the light/heavy point , then looked at the direction indicators on the tyrel and noticed the one on the wheel was pointing the other way So rang the shop and the guy insisted the new tyre went on the same way as the old tyre so the old one must have been on the wrong way ( trying to shift the blame on to someone else). So I let them know it was them that fitted the last tyre as well.

So went back got it fitted properly and popped it on the bike .

Now I don't know if it's because the tyre is better , balanced better , or what , but the steering shake has gone totally , even at 50-60 mph no hands-no wobble

The only real difference is the wheel and tyre are now turning in the right direction and if the wheel has a direction indicator on it , I must presume it's directional . Never even occurred to me to check for this before !

The guy at the shop said he'd never come across a directional wheel before?

So the lesson I've learned is check the wheel and tyre direction after you get new rubber and check it at the shop not when you get home

The guy at the shop said he'd never come across a directional wheel before?

Then he ain't much of a mechanic

I would guess it was more wheel balance and tyre wear than tyre direction, but as I've never put one on backwards I can't comment. It also means your brake discs were working backwards too, huh . They have directional indicators too........
Makes you think..............
I check anything and everything when she leaves the shop, and the more I see workshops the less I trust them.

That Hawk man is a total pissah to find out , but it's cool all is good now.

Think about it though, if you found reverse the ride would have been real smooth going backwards. he hee hee

You know the 'never seen directional stuff', is just the standard bullsh!t they teach them to say at 'wrench-monkey school!' Such a shame they don't teach them as much about mechanics as they do bullsh!t!

Disc's!! Forgot about them!! Had the brakes off last time the tyre was changed so they went back on the wrong way!! Will have to check tomorrow . So before I had tyre in correct direction , wheel in wrong direction and disc's in correct direction . What a mess ! Of course the disc's will need changing around thanks for the heads-up Pete

I do realy hate putting stuff in the garage for repair!!

My old, worn tire wobbled like hell.
New one rides great. Just like you, I can now take my hands off the bars without issue. Nice feeling, eh?

Glad it's all better now...

As far as the "mechanic"....

The guy at the shop said he'd never come across a directional wheel before?

Then he ain't much of a mechanic
Exactly. Whether he was lying or not... what an ***.
