Not much to see from the outside, MarkR - one pic from outside, other from inside showing where the bearing fits. Maybe start the bike, and put a screwdriver against the stator cover, and listen for rattle...

OK my friend, I think it best that I head straight to Melbourne when I get some free time. I think I need to ring out that bike of yours and give a listen to the lower end. Hopefully I can give you a piece of mind where you will be able to sleep. I hear the weather is rider friendly there. I may have to put a few clicks on her before I can make a final diagnosis.
