GenMar Risers

GenMar Risers
Can anyone point me at a source for some GenMar risers for a '87 Hurricane? None of the websites list this model other than to refer me to the "universal" set for 7/8" bars. From the associated pictures, they appear to be designed to fit a "standard" tubular bar, not the "clip on" bars the bike has?
Any suggestions or other ideas for raising the bars a bit?

RE: GenMar Risers
I think I'd really like to raise them up a bit. I can see that I can gain a little by just raising them on the fork tubes, but I don't see much room for that before you start loosing the clamping area. ANyone tried this, and if so, how much "give" is there in the mountings?
BTW - both bikes are CBR1000F's.

RE: GenMar Risers
From what I recall, gen mar did make risers for the 1000f, but they consisted merely of spacers to raise the bars on the fork tubes and top caps, an effect that could be achieved by simply raising the stock bars on the fork tubes.I replaced my stock clip ons with telefix adjustable clip ons, which I purchased off ebay for about $75, and which can be gotten new for $170 here http://www.whaccessories.com/Handle%20bars.htm.These bars can be adjusted enough to completely take the weight off of your wrists, and the picturebelow shows about the maximum rise you can get WITHOUT having to swap out any of the stock cables. Swapping out your stock bars for, say, FJR clip ons may require replacing some or all of the control cables. Also, remember to get bars that match the diameter of your fork tubes.

RE: GenMar Risers
From what I've been able to learn from Gen Mar, they no longer support the '87 Hurricane. They report a fork tube diameter change for '88 and that (and later) is what they support.
I can see where simply raising the bars on the fork tubes can be done - my only concern would be how much rise can be accomplished without affecting the "clamping force" and possible security of the attachment.
I appreciate the input - I'll look into the adjustable bars and see what I can do about simply raising the current bars.

RE: GenMar Risers
George,
Did you try just raising the bars? Did it work?
I too have looked at the genmar risers for my 93, but the $100+ cost seems a bit steep.
I was also wondering if I could just raise the bars without needing the riser and save myself some $$
Anyone tried this?
Thanks,
