Living in Kenya I would doubt you have the roads for it, or the clear spaces to allow high speeds.
You aren't scared - you're clever

Jambo ! Kuja hapa on that Honda ? he he
I spent some time as a small boy in Thomsons Falls !

Sam I have been to Nairobi many times , you are a brave man to even ride around town there! The traffic is , shall we say , 'unpredictable' at the best of times . Conditions vary widely from country to country , I suppose it's what everyone is used to.

My 90 regularly returns 35mpg. And I too ocasionally take her to 120 and 150 at times.

I can't comment on the 88 having never owned one, but I too would have a hard time believing that this is normal. Something must be amiss. I wonder if the original owner had a different exhaust on it originally and over jetted it (you know, put a huge set of mains in it). Then when the shop replaced that damaged jet, the mechanic merely matched it when he replaced it. Maybe going down a few sizes on the mains would increase your mileage.

bigape, nice to see 35mpg. My normal is 36.

Filled her up yesterday, and... 33.7mpg. (looks like it's warming up... down goes the mileage... )

Same here Sir Trout! Used to get about 45 but as I gain experience I'm riding faster and harder Those luvly corners come up faster and faster , I take them better and better , but gas just disappears , down to 37mpg !

The front tyre I got in november is almost due for a change This summer riding is getting expensive

Yep yep, Hawk... that's what happens.

I've proven that it will get just over 40MPG riding with the "Harley Slowpokes". (Man, that was hard.. ) So at least I know it will do it.

It's all about riding in the higher rev range. I'm up 2 teeth on the rear, so that doesn't help the mileage out much, either.

I asked my buddy with a ZX9R what kind of mileage he gets (because I know he rides HARD), and he said he gets about 19mpg!!! LOL.. I guess we're doing ok..

19!?! That's nuts. When I was in college, I had a 94 900RR with a Two Brothers Pipe, Uni Pod filters, timing advancer and Dynojet kit. I had it to 170 and 182 a couple of times, and even that bike returned me 28mpg driving like an animal.

That's 19 K's to a litre, which is just shy of 50MPG on 4 quarts, bigape.....
Pretty good.
