Fuel pump issue
When is the fuel pump supposed to run? Is it supposed to run on ignition on or does it wait until the engine fires to kick in? Being carbed and having the benefit of gravity I'm a bit surprised it has a pump at all. I'm getting 0v at the pump on ignition on yet this loom started the bike just fine. Put it in the Kitten and the pump actually has to push the fuel against gravity but it's not doing that without power. Any help gratefully received.

After some digging around I find that if I bypass the fuel cut off relay I get a steady 12V at the pump, not pulsed. I'm betting on the relay is dud but the bike was just sucking fuel through the system with the aid of gravity. I've ordered a new relay. But if I actually connect the pump on a bypassed relay it blows a fuse so I'm also betting the pump which is an aftermarket thing is shorted out. I'll get a pukka Honda one which strangely have Mitsubishi markings on them!
