It's called the Fuel Siphon Tube. Page 1-26 of the service manual and page 1-28

Good catch. Looks like it just hangs there. Still can't figure out why the end is stretched, but I'll let it hang like the rest.

Much obliged. Keg at my house. Let me know the next time you are in central FL.

She barks! It is running. Pretty good amount of smog from the exhaust, but probably a combination of sitting for so long and the seafoam that I put in the gas (rather strong mix--1 can to 2.5 gallons of premium). Going to get the necessary body parts back on tomorrow morning and take it for a spin. Coolant doesn't seem to be circulating, but will see how it acts in the morning. Also seems to be a slight hitch when revving, but I still think it just needs to be blown out.

Thanks for everyone's help. I'll let you know the final outcome.

Guess you could say that I lost my virginity. As long as I've owned it, I've never really messed with it other than basic maintenance. I guess the fact that the CBR's are almost bullet proof is both a blessing and a curse. We'll see how she runs once she's on the road tomorrow. I'm definitely going to have to start putting some miles on her. My wife loves the bike but is starting to wonder why I keep it since I rarely get the chance to get on it. I need some riding partners down here.

Where were you in 2006 when I was staying in Daytona?

You didn't miss much. Can't stand the state really...too many straight roads

I guess it depends what part of 2006. Up through September was living in Louisiana, moved here in October 2006. Along with the straight roads issue is the wildlife issue. I hate riding through the country due to the deer, cows, hogs and gators that are quite common in the roadway. Add to that the morning fog in the winter (our version of winter) and it really hampers the ability to get the scooter out. While there is no helmet law (helmets and 96 degrees with 90% humidity don't go well together) there are a number of unaware drivers that really require you to wear one. Not that I ever rode a lot (compared to some), but I put more miles on the bike when I lived in Indiana than I ever have once I moved south. Seems that it would be the other way around due to the weather.

Good point. My bike has only seen rain once and that was because the forecast was wrong. Riding in the rain is painful. Got caught once on my '88 Hurricane (rest her soul) and vowed that I would avoid that at all costs from that point on.

Took her out for a short spin, just to make sure it ran under throttle as opposed to just sitting in the garage. Seemed to be run good. Having not been run in quite some time I opted not to put her through her paces right away. Engine temp stayed low, so the issue the other day when I first started it up may have just been another one of those "I don't like sitting around" issues that resolved itself. Will take a daylight test ride and, assuming all is good, put the body panels back on.
