Steve - God that brings back memories..... Long ago as a student i pumped gas in a garage..... 1962.....We got paid bonus for up selling a squirt ofRed-X booster.
Anybody ever put mothballs (naphthalene) in their tanks ?
No but heard of it. .... Another silly thing I did at the time ... 1966 .... I put vegtable oil in my petrol to make it smell like a speedway machine.....
Smelt Great!!! God we were crazy then!!!!!

.That RedX was the last commercial additive I ever used mate
The vegi oil and or ... a few drops of 2 stroke racing oil .!! ..... yer I did that one in near all my early Honda trail bikes to make them smell like racers ... which the XL250 ans SL125's were not !!
but they smelt good
Crazy ... ? yup.....but possibly not quite strong enough of a description really Martin
I would go with " mad as meat axes " though as a closer description mate

(2 or 3 oil changes ) ...at the time a mechanic told me that it was good for saving the engine a bit of stress???? if you ran your XR.s like a mad man ...
