Default RE: front wobble?

Afternoon - Just
I too have had this wobble both with and without my topbox on. Releasing hands from the bar produces a noticeable wobble to the bars. I have cured this by re-balancing the front wheel. I dont think its anything to do with the boxes or anything, but more to do with the tyre wear altering the balance of the front wheel. A re-balance shouldnt cost much to give it a try.

Hope that helps
Chris

will try another balance at the wk end, today i fitted a mag mount /tankbag and put my tools in there and ,lo,no wobble and an extremely happy feeling on sharp fast bends.
so even tho it looks stupid its staying on there for now.

well,got all techmical on this.heh.
ive tried balancing etc but it was still there but only faintly without weight n worse with weight on rear.
then ,as u do,i went round everything and ended up doing a measured line up of the wheels and found the rear wheel alignment marks didnt add up to a straight rear wheel when set even,so have adjusted the wheel according to measurements:long straight edge, block at front wheel to make up size (width).set rear wheel parralell to front(after checking front is straight in yoke etc)
bike definatly feels better but yet to put wieght on back...

The main thing you need to remember is that when you put a box on the bike, that it may always be marginally out due to taking the bike out of its original design perameters, and as far as I'm aware I dont think that there is any cure for this...............

When you measured your alignment with a long straight edge did you measure against the tyre or the wheel. Because I would never trust a tyre to be perfectly straight.

did against the ally rims of the wheels, had to cut some wood to the nesc shape /size,basically ended up with a "jig" type metal bar with "added" wood bits tool lol.
definatly a huge improvement in handling,my righthanders are much more focused and clean(was always bad round rite hand).
worth doing thats for sure ,tho why the wheels marks are out by 3.5 mm is anybodys guess.
maybe a bent spindle....pfer..the list goes on.................
