Default RE: Front fork

You have to figure out how much oil your CBR shall have in each fork. If I dont remember it wrong the -87/88 with antidive is surposed to have 485cc in the antidive fork (left) and about 495-500cc in the other. I have it written down at home but am at work now. I am not sure abouthe 1993 model.
I have raised the level by around 15-20mm which also will be 15-20cc extra with the 41mm forks. Fill one fork and then measure with a stick to get equal level in the next fork.
I u.s.e 15w Castrol forkoil and it made quite a difference from the previous viscosity and level. It still is smooth but not as soft as before.

Good luck!

The Haynes manual call for 418cc in both legs of the 1993. I just did this job on my bike and I placed 475cc in both legs (per Dad's advice to raise the oil level and reduce the air gap). You really just need to play with the level until you find the sweet spot. Raising the level will help reduce the chance of bottoming out, but leave it nice and compliant in the early to mid part of its travel. I also made new spring spacers to increase the preload for proper sag and went to a 10wt oil (a little thicker than stock).

See my thread "Custom Spring Spacers (thanks Dad)"regarding the spacers I made.

You need stiffer springs. Spend $110 or cut your original springs to make a custom rate.

The original rate is 0.68kg/cm. Too soft. If you cut it in half you get 2 springs with rates of 1.36kg/cm too stiff. Depending on your weight you want 0.8 - 1.0 Heavier oil will round out the mods.

If you cut it 75:25 soft end:stif end you should end up with something close to 0.9 effective rate. Any mech. eng. out there? to check me?
