Echo - have a coil of brake line stuff actually in 1/4" I got at Napa last night, it's the
easy hand bendable type - all set Guys thanks

Trout - like to keep a good sized see throu' filter on it as the inside of the tank is not
in the best of shape - even when I go to seal it I'm not that sure it will be totally 100%

Hey:

Sprock, 1/4" is pretty small you may have fuel starvation issues in the upper RPM ranges 5/16" is the absolutely smallest you should use, but bigger is better as it can only take as much as it needs when the line is oversized but a smaller one can strain it by not allowing enough fuel. I would rethink this if I was you. 5/16" is stock size, 3/8" is upgrade when removing pump. The petcok outlet should be 5/16" not 1/4" why go smaller than that? And as always good luck on whatever you choose. Honda engineers added the pump as they had already choose the line size and the 87-88 tank flows a little different than the mk2 and 3 at speed.

Sprock. Can't you just use regular auto lines and elbow fittings? If they don't make a 'U' fitting just put 2 elbows together, cut and brazed if space is tight.

It's hard without seeing the space available so sorry if this is just plain daft !

The auto fuel lines I've used on most of my bikes are bloody strong and would be pretty hard to kink.

Dave - daft - never - here's a pic

I'm good - yeah returned the 1/4 " hard line and went with a few lengths of 5/16 flex
and reused some of the old stuff with some brass barbed boat fuel line repair connectors

On an 87 this is the location where the electric fuel pump and oem fuel filter sits -
89 on up does not have any of this fuel pump & filter stuff

You can see the barbed connector splice up top - have since added one last hose clamp
at the rear of that big fuel filter (rust catcher). Planning to add a magnet to the side
of the filter to hold the rust bits until I get the tank sealed - but think I wanna ride it
all summer long first

but aye - she be running like a champ now - new tires some fork seals and a new chain
and we'll be off to the races

Yeah Dub I'm seeing the the 87 tank geometry is high at the back - ya know what that means
since there's only one way to keep the fuel to the rear

hah ha - that was the easy part - disconnect everything - then find a utility knife and a
big filter some hose clamps - a few opinions from the Guys - a couple of wire ties and away you go

I thought you had to add something so the tank vented properly. All you have to do is rip the pump out and add a filter?

Hey:

Yep remove pump, and add filter, should go up in size to be safe from running out of fuel at speed from 5/16" to 3/8" but that is all. On gravity feed, all factory provided vents must work correctly or you will have fueling issues, 2 seperate things but work together for a fine running bike.

Um well two days ago my setup siphoned a few pints of gas out of the tank into the
oil pan, might been a smart thing to shutoff the petcock - DOH _ &$&%$* -
guess I'll have to be ripping the carbs apart to clean the float needles now, looks like
some crud may have gotten down there before I got the big filter on !
