Oh and Sprocket, the cap in the top of the headstock just pulls out so you don't have to drill through it.....

Well ........err yeaaaah.........how'd you think I put the washer on the underside.
I used the whole cap as the mount back then before I put the tank mount on.

Thanks Oldbalz. I am going to leave mine were it is for now. But, I do want to install one of those radar detecter thingys. This info will help with a clean looking install.

Default NUVI/RAM Mount Addendum

I recently installed my Garmin NUVI 250W on my 08' 1000RR using a RAM steering stem mount and short ball-mount. I had to custom fit the tapered rubber insert that comes with the stem base but it seems fairly secure and key insertion/removal is OK.

The RAM components used were:

1. RAM B-342 Fork Stem Base $15.50

2. RAM B201UA Short Arm 1.75 in. $11.00

+ Shipping which was $6.00 USPS 2-3 day Priority Mail

I got them online from www.whitehorsegear.com

I already had the RAM NUVI Holder/Ball mount as I swap this GPS with my other bike at times.

They were extremely pleasant to deal with and shipped fast.

The above info is the RAM hardware that I used to mount the Garmin NUVI GPS to my CBR. You will also need to get some additional components for mounting the NUVI to complete this installation:

1. RAM-HOL-GA25U $9.25 (This is the cradle or "Holster", as RAM calls it that will carry the NUVI and will also require another ball attachment to complete the system)

2. RAM B-238U $6.25 (This the ball that attaches to the RAM-HOL-GA25U Cradle above)

I ordered these parts directly from the RAM website ....but here's the kicker....RAM doesn't ship these parts directly....they send the order to one of their retailers that supposedly has them in stock and you don't know what the shipping charges are going to be and there isn't a way to track the shipping.
So I would advise to NOT order directly from RAM...just find an online retailer for RAM products and buy them that way.
