first start of spring
hi all,so last summer i lost the key to 1990 1000f (1 key idiot i am) so she sat for 6 months outside with a tender hooked up today i got a used ignition, gas cap, helmet holder off ebay as soon as i got home put ignition in she started 3rd try then got to looking at gas cap i think just unbolting it wont work since its locked on tank? any ideas?thanks all.
Wonder will the old hammer-a-flathead square-shaft-screwdriver-in-there-and-twist-like-hell-trick work... Prolly wont try to drill through as shavings can and will get into the tank, but you have to be careful with hammering too so the top of the tank won't buckle...
Actually all joking aside, removing the tank first might be the way to go. It'll certainly improve access from underneath and if you need to drill, it'll minimise the **** that falls in the tank
Then fit an 'in-line filter' just to make sure
But before you do any of this stuff, get a spare key cut!!
