Great articles, Slowpoke !
I found some of the glue they give you when fitting new PVC house gutters - it bonds the downpipes etc and gives a watertight seal. I haven't used it yet, but it may be worth a try - smells like model cement from my childhood.............

For broken tabs I have been using some .05" stainless steel mesh cut and bent in the shape needed and then glue it to the fairing with some pastic epoxy. Once its set you can go back and add more epoxy to get the desired thickness and finally file and shape it to suit. I've been using the 2 part stuff from Walmart and it seems to be working. I replace 3 tabs this way about a year ago and they are still holding.

ORIGINAL: sawnee

Glass fibre wont stick properly to plastic, Hawkwind. Using a bit of donor plastic, superglue and a soldering iron is probably the best way to go (but stay away from the smoke, nasty stuff [:'(].)
+1 for the soldering Iron.Fairings are Acrylonytrile Butadiene Styrene ,Very hard to break into that type of Polymer chain.

acctualy my plastic welder came with a book and it says to use abs rod to weld that type of plastic so the soldering iron and abs is a great choice

I just remembered that Motorcycle Consumer News did a review of the Plastic Welder by Harbor Freight: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=41592, and they gave it a good review.
