Engine's Strength

Does anyone know what the Horse Power on a 1988 cbr1000f be, rough estimate? random motorcycle spec websites say around 100 hp

Have a look at the workshop manual section at the top of the page.
I think you'll get a surprise ! The 1000F restricted model in California had around 100HP, the German bike about 108HP, but the std bikes were from 125-133BHP depending whose lies you believe.....:)

That's about right.... but likely a bit more than 100.
I think the crank HP in the specs is 132, so I'd say about 105-120HP to the wheel.
The few dynos I've seen seem to agree.

My ole 88 made 117 at the wheel, 72 ftlbs. of torque (might have made more, found out had a cylinder out of round while boring for piston kit). After mild headwork, 1049 kit and FCR's it made right at 130 ( can't remember exactly what). I still have printout of stock dyno session somewhere...

At the end of the day , no matter what spec you may happen to read , ...all I know is that if you dare use all of the rev range with a full fist of throttle , they have enough power to pull christ from the cross ... and certainly enough to get my full attension when I hammer mine ...:icon_wink:

I do think the 100hp may be understating them though ...:icon_shrug:
Mine is an Aussie version and no way does she deliver only a 100hp....:icon_no:
I cant imagine them limited to that .... ? must be a bit weird to ride them like that I recon ..

its not even that these bikes don't make that much power, but they make crazy amounts of torque. that's why they are so awesome.

My old GSXF 750 had 100hp and while it went well these things would walk all over it. I'd figure they have at least 20 odd more hp.
