Engine On stand

I made an engine stand for another 4cylinder bike that I once owned many years ago , but I have not had the need to make one for my CBR as yet..
I can't say if I have ever seen a post in here where anyone has made or used one for a 1000F either ...
A good rule when it comes to engine stands though is ...
Make the stand to fix to the normal engine mounting points !!!
If you try to mount anywhere else , you might damage the cases !
An idea would be to just raise the engine using a high jack of some sort and putting timber under the engine on the jack itself to support it ... but you would want the engine fixed to the jack some how as well I would think ...
If it dropped off for any reason , you certainly would not do it any good !!!
These may be able to be slightly modified or may do the job if you need one !!

Only $64 bucks ...

That is how I do it with a couple of the HF ones, but use square tubing mounted to the flat plate not angle iron. I just slot the plate for use with different motors on the top, and I use L plates at the bottom for the motor mount nearest the swingarm using that long bolt for the stand mounts as well. I also bolt a custom plate for some motors to the HF plate. Manys ways to do this.

I don't see the need for a stand personally. Every bike engine that I had out, I've had no problem flipping it around once it was up an the work bench. Dry (no oil or coolant) they get lighter, a little.
Unless you plan on spending many hours working on an engine that warrants the time and effort on making a stand, I don't know if it is worth the pursuit.
I also don't think (for my own personal use) it worth while unless I plan on rebuilding several engines. Engine stand storage space here is minimal.

Gotcha... Thanks guys. What I'm gonna do is tighten everything back up and jut wait till I have it mounted in the frame then do a compression/ leak down test. Then if needed I'll tear it down. I might just do a top end while I have it out. Doesn't seem like it's too difficult to remove from the frame if she does need a rebuild...

Let me re-phrase what I posted. If you have everything apart, you will need to install the cylinders and maybe the head out of the frame. There is no room to slide the jugs down over the studs in frame.
If you were originally asking if you can put the engine on a stand and run it to see it it's OK before installing it in the frame, the answer is no (yes but a lot of work). You need to have the battery, CDI and R/R hooked up to run it. Best done in frame. It is also best to assemble the entire engine out of frame.
Head and jugs on trany in frame .....most every thing else can be done in frame.
Sorry if there is any confusion.
