Engine oil - UK recomendations?

It took me quite a few years to break the " buying million dollar oil " for all my bikes .. I used to do the full super expensive synthetic stuff all the time..

I have managed to get my head around the oil in my last 2 road bikes though and now as Pete mentioned , now use boring old castrol car engine oils in my CBR

It works fine costs jack and I have had no troubles...

but just the thought of diesel oil still screws with my head..
We have a Land Rover Diesel and the oil that we put in it looks dam weird ...whacking it in my CBR ??? hmmm

Om going to try it too though

Yup...from one Steve to another though Steve , ...the main thing I will say for sure is, that if Uncle Pete says its kool to use ....IT'S KOOL

he knows his stuff and I trust his experience ...

Hmm, still not convinced, why is "diesel" oil called that and not just oil?
What are the specs to look for in an oil that will work with a "Cane" ?
(the thing is, there is 1000s of litres of the stuff at work but Shhh dont tell anyone) because oil brands vary so much between countries proper specs would be the only way to find a world wide usable oil if there is such a thing (I know I'm rambling, too many JD'S)
