Default engine number location

Please help,

I just bought one of these babies and I can't drive it legally because I cannot locate the engine number. This is my first sport bike and I'm extremely enthusiastic to ride. Please be specific and thank you a lot if someone can help me out,

In Haynes Workshop Manual it say's that the engine number is located on the front edge of the crankcase.
I haven't checked it inreal.

According to the Haynes manual, the engine number is "situated on the front edge of the crankcase next to the crankcase mating surfaces". From the Honda manual it looks to be located just above the oil filter and can be seen looking down towards the filter.

Wow,

Computers are incredible the answers to my problem came so fast. Thank you all very much. With a bit of luck I may get out on it this w/e. I've only had smaller cruisers in the past, and I am curious to see what it is like to make the rpm's go real big big,
