Default Electrical fault finding

I think my ignition switch problem may be related to the stick coil mod I did. I can hear a distinct clicking sound coming from the coil area when the bike is Idling. Early days yet in the fault finding so not definite. The red/black ignition wire from the ig switch gets a little warm and will blow a 10a fuse but not straight away so it is not a dead short.
Any ideas where to start?
I just love fault finding on a 26 year old bike.
Still love my CBR though.

Here's a fault finding flow chart for the charging system Damo,

Then there's the Lucas fault finding book, but I think that involves smoke filled wires!

Or the racetech version................

Electronic ignition fault finding

One may help. Best of luck solving it.

If your hearing clicking, you are hearing a high voltage arch not the low voltage (12V).
I would check to see if the stick coils are insulated properly. Are they pressed down ALL THE WAY making good contact?
