Default charging system fault finding help

I may just be reading into this to much but I'm going through the fault finding chart for my 96, and I'm not sure exactly what they mean when they say "Connect one of the multimeter-leads up to one of the three yellow wires (stator). Connect the other multimeter lead up to the engine case. Check the reading on the meter."

what/where do i connect this to the engine case?

sorry if this seems juvanile for some of you but electrical stuff is not something i understand well

thanks,

oh, here is the link if you want to look at the flow chart (my question is on page 4, second step from the bottom)

They are just using the engine case as a ground point. You could also use the neg battery terminal or frame for this test. it is just to test that the R/R is functioning properly by regulating the voltage.
