Ebay bargain and different year cylinder head fitment
#11
Well just won me a a cylinderhead for 99p or 60cents in US. My project came with one of the inlet stubs on the head broken half off. Repaired mine with a bit of tubing and hight temp epoxy resin. Did the job for now but when bike is fully built will strip for paint and drop engine. Will drop sump pan do chains, tensioners etc. and replace cylinderhead, are there differences in heads or will all fit all years?
you've had some pretty good answers here. All correct IMO.
Shoot the head back to whence it came. If it's not complete it's worthless.
You mention dropping the sump to do chains. What?
The only thing you can do to chains by dropping the sump is look at them.
Oil and alternator chain swaps involve splitting the crank case. Likewise the alternator chain tensioner.
Sorry to burst your bubble man but I thought you should know the truth before getting your hopes up.
I just put the head back on mine today and its a nerve racking enough business even though you know you've got the right part. Attempting to modify in incompatible head would be madness and probably a complete waste of time.
Hope that helps make your mind up.
