I`ve done that once. Hard job, i can tell! I dont think you can do much to make it better.
There is no seals or anything like that to change.

genius! The cam chain seems to be the only recurring complaint about these bikes so best of luck... show those multinational corporations for the fools they are! [:@]

Cam Chain Tensioner

i'd just like to see for myself what's causing them to fail.. before I go ripping my engine apart and digging it out of there... i might have a backup bike for a while.. a Katana 750 of about the same vintage.. so I'll get to see the performance differances in the bikes... I'm getting hte Katana for a steal (about 1500$ CDN) since the guy owes me money... think I should pick it up?

Go for it. As much as I love the CBR's the Katana is a Classic. They are worth some good money in restored condition.

excellent.. that's a good start.. maybe i'll think about getting one through bikebandit at some point in the next year or so... I figure that around 50-60000 kms I'm going to have to do it since it seems that many people are doing it earlier than that.. but maybe this bike was babied.. I kinda doubt it since I have to do the clutch now and not many people seems to say much about that job
