Default Cracks in Cam holder

So, opened up the head cover today to check valve clearances and noticed quite a few
cracks in one of the camshaft holder. Too much torque applied maybe but it's only one of them.
Don't know how deep they go but maybe best to let it be or should I worry about it?

Ya mean those spider cracks on the right ?

Well - keep going - because they are paired off to the cams
and so you'd be talking an entire new head & cams & carriers
assembly

I suppose if you were worried and it looked like failure was
imminent you could have it tig welded externally to reinforce it

Personally I don't think it's about to come apart anytime soon tho

Yeah, not so clear in the picture maybe but there are lots of them.
Oh.. Dont think I'm going to mess with that then.

Thx for your answer and insight I'll surely be careful not to over tighten the bolt so it gets worse.

Yeah the cams , head and carriers are all matched & machined
as sets.

Kind of misleading on ebay when you see them being sold in
pieces - no use to anybody

But if you see an entire assembly going for cheap - and you
know yours is borderline - it'd be good as backup

Mine fell apart when removed, easily welded up by someone who knows what they are doing, cost me $70 for the job from memory.

Thx guys, good to know that you can't change them separately, so not a good idea to buy those on ebay then.
I'll watch out for it and see if it gets any worse and maybe have it welded
then or see if I can find a spare assembly cheaply in the meantime.

+1

They look like they originated from the cover post and not the cam holder bolts. Sometimes they are caused by heat checking from the molding process and are imprints of the mold itself. Could have been there all along.

Thx for the links - if I should need one it doesn't seem to cost that much, between 120-200 $
Well, hope it won't need to go so far

Yeah, I think they originate from the head cover too but seems strange if they would have been there all along.
