not sure, i torqued mine by feel due to lack of torque wrench, despite my advice, I dont' know what the torque spec is, but I'm sure it's really low

14$ for a clutch??? Jeebus that's cheap...

Clutch bolts, according to the service manual, are suppose to be torqued to 9 ft lbs.

How many kms on your CBR Rx7man? Was it slipping?

I've got 70k+ and would imagine I am still on the original (got bike @ ~ 42k) and have heard of a few 100k bikes with original clutches.

it was at 41000 kms... the plates didn't look all that worn at all really, but I just felt it slipping when I shifted hard, the higher the gear the more noticable... I'm doing a fair bit of highway driving so i don't think I'lll be replacing it any time soon again... of course, then there are my fun days doing wheelies and stuff and of course the clutch life will suffer doing that

MOST EXCELENT!

I bought my '94 1000F with 44k miles. Runs great, but, the clutch was never done, and it seems to be engaging toward the end of the lever stroke.

So of course I was thinking clutch job. Thinking that I would be needing special tools.

Great to read this! Now I can set a side a day without much worry.

Anybody got an idea what a "clutch tool" does anyway?

Thanks!

PS, great to hear no personal damage on the crash

I have no idea what a clutch tool could be for.. perhaps to increase company bottom line by tool sales, because if you have a tol as a mechanic he'll need it *

perhaps helps to get the last couple clutch plates out??? I don't think that woudl be called a tool though, it would just be a piece of haywire

A clutch tool holds the basket in place so that it doesn't turn. Very handy iof you're working on the engine on a bench.
