Changing a speedo face

Changing a speedo face
Has anyone done this ?
I'd like to do the job myself, but don't know how to remove the speedo needle without damaging it, or the mechanism.
Is it a press fit on the shaft, or is it glued ?
Or should I just take it to an instrument specialist.......?
Any guidance would be appreciated.

My daughter dropped her CB250 and smashed the speed-o. The one I found to replace it was reading high on the mileage. I wanted to open the speed-o up and set it back to reflect the true mileage but suddenly found that Honda sealed the unit in a way that makes it hard for someone to monkey around with it. I guess they do this to protect the innocent and keep the less than honest out of it. Good luck.

Never done it myself on one of these , but I have ****ed with wrecked speedo's and Pete , those things on the ones that I have played with are a press fit with one of those sort of push on one way, grab forever fits , real hard if not impossible to get back off without destroying the dam needle ...
Hope the 1000F are different for your sake mate ... be interesting to see how you go with it ...
don't think my revs go that high though
...
