Your valves should last you well over 100,000 if the bike is serviced regualy. The only other times that they may need replaceing is if one breaks oryou bounce one. At every major service you should check the valve clearances and adjust accordingly. When you put new valves into the head the you need to have them seated, this is normally done by an engineer and ensurs a perfect fit, and prevents them slapping against the piston.
