Default CBR CAM Gear Drive Unit from CBR750F

Hey:

Has anyone here tried installing the CBR750F Hurricane Gear drive cam system, in their CBR1000F.

It is pretty noisey but would end any cam chain related issues for good, it appears you would only need the 2 cam gears and the gear drive unit for it to work not sure on the crank gear if it is different or not.

It looks very simular to the gear drive unit that was in my 1985 VF1000R and they could be retrofitted into the VF1000F.

Given that CBR750,s are about as rare as rocking horse **** outside of Japan I suspect you would be merely be swapping your current headache for a different type of headache?

How the **** do you read that workshop manual?

Most likely won't work. It is gear driven. The crank would have to be fitted with a gear rather than a sprocket as well and the cams.

The 750 crank is to weak and not the correct journal sizes for the 1000. Wish it were that easy.

We aim to please.

Funny isn't it how a comment that is quite well known in one country can bring much mirth in another country.

Feel free to use it, who knows it might even be a good pick up line? Although right at the moment I'm struggling to see its use in that particular application.

Wink

I've been out polishing my piece of rocking horse **** today.

Looks good, smells dam fine, goes like a cut cat, sounds like an angry beaver at idle, and that cam gear set up at high revs roars like a tiger.

God I love my rocking horse, it's whole suite of animals rolled into one and ridden by a bloke called bear......go figure eh.

Cheers.

Bigger is not always better, 750 tis about right

Yeah I know that TK, All sweet , Part of the reason I bought it cos it was a little different from the run of the mill, aprt of it's charm, haha. I was gonna get a thou, but the 750 seemed to be a good fit. The gear train was an added bonus as it makes an awesome noise when wound up.

Where is the Burt Munro being held? down invercargill way? where do I get info? Might be interested, as would a couple of other mates. Cheers

PS the "Bigger is not always better, 750 tis about right" I wanted to add to my profile set up next to the 750 pic, but can't figure out how to get it there?
