CBR 1000F Stator Alternatives (SC24)
Hi all
Seems I'm faced with having a 1990 SC24 that runs beautifully but won't charge. Testing reveals breaks in the stator coils and grounding. There seems to be not one single second hand stator available in New Zealand. So faced with having it rewound by an untested amateur (professionals won't touch it). At $360 all up.
Are there any other more easily available stators out there that would fit? Also would the SC21 stator fit the SC24 engine?
If this comes to naught, I'll rewind it myself. Plus document the process and post it in the "How To" section.
Will introduce myself and the bike when it's ready. Have done a fairing swap after PO dropped it and destroyed LHS fairings. It looks and sounds great.
Thanks

Sorry to hear about that. I used to own a 1995 CBR100F. Great bike, in fact it's the bike that brought me to this forum. According to this page, 1990 - 1995 1000F uses the same one. Looking at that, I think I'd be more inclined to wait until one shows up on ebay. I wish you luck.

Hi and thanks for taking the time. Yes, unfortunately they are no longer factory made anywhere. So I suspect we'd all better get used to doing stuff like this ourselves. I'm also in touch with Roger Lovelock at Info@Bbbikeshop.Co.Uk who reconditions these for the SC24 - a reasonable price.
Turnaround time for me would be 3 months given the global postage mess. The 1990s CBX750 (Not Nighthawk) are apparently the same. Although looking at one on Ebay, it looks more like the SC21.
It's reasonably easy to to do. Just time consuming. I'll give it whirl.

Haha yes. Will probably have to this one twice anyway (first time for me is usually a mistake filled learning experience). It seems these stators for other Honda models listed below are also compatible. Which widens our net. These are only for the oil cooled SC24 stator - 1990 onwards. The MK1 SC21 is completely different.
CB-750 Nighthawk 750 1991-2004
CB-1000 1994-1995
CBR-1000F (Hurricane) 1990-1996
ST-1100 1991-1995
ST-1100a ABS 1992-1995.

Thanks for looking. Me too. I had a look at an attachment on a previous post by naga_thai (https://cbrforum.com/forum/cbr-1000f...38/r-r-139522/) where he mentioned compatible regulators. And by inference, the stators. At this point I'm possibly clutching at straws but at least it's a start. The pre 1996 ST1100 looks promising though. I'm only after the stator itself, rather than the housing.
