The only wheelies I've ever done were by accident, too hot of a launch at Rockingham Dragstrip. Gets the blood pumping...

"A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...."

Back in 1992 when I was stationed at Pope AFB NC, me and a bunch of Air Force and Army crazies used to ride to Rockingham Dragway on Friday nights for tuner night ($5 and an inspection). It was about a 50 mile jaunt one way through Ft. Bragg and it was half the fun of the trip. Believe me riding back at midnight at 100+ mph through the Ft. Bragg reservation with just your headlights looking out for deer and Military Police keep you on edge.

I installed an ignition advancer, Dynajet stage 1 and Supertrap slip-ons with no disc installed. I also would squirt about a gallon of Sunoco racing gas when we got there, I don't know if it helped but that sweet smell was niiice. Anyways, the best time I ever ran was a 10.85 1/4 mile, most were in the low 11's. I got a little cocky once and tried to launch the bike around 6k rpm, damn near ate the tree lights...never again I tried that stunt. I was happy and content running 11's @ 120mph legally and safely.

I don't know about you guys but launching these heavy bikes out of the hole safely and quickly is a challenge. On open road roll-ons it was another story, I burnt many a CBR 600 and 900RR's (new at the time) quite easily.

Those were great riding days for me my Friends...
