CBR 1000F TO CBR 1000RR
I admit as nice as my friends bikes are the two R1, Hayabusa ,GSXR 750 & ZX12 As we were all sitting around the dinner table tonight kicking around how much we all liked our bikes. I stated that I really like the styling of the old CBR. More than anything in the parking lot. Even though I'm the oldest, heaviest, slowest bike there I really like the styling. Just wish the old girl had a little more under her skin. One of the guys suggested a straight engine swap. Instead of a ton of modifications to what is already there. Which would net about a 35% increase in horsepower So Does anyone know whether this is physically possible or not without a hell of a lot of welding and hard work and then may not be possible has anyone had a close look at the new 1000RR engine and the 1000F engine are the even physically close in size and dimension are the mounting points on the engines even remotely close to each other. I would not even have nearly enough time before my departure to begin any engine swap like this, but I'm thinking that this would be a great project to begin gathering the parts for while I'm gone if there is anyone out there who thinks that this may possibly or knows someone that has tried. Please share what you know

The problem with modern engines is the the Airbox sits above the injectors right where the front part of our fuel tank is as the downdraft angle is a lot higher. Also I dunno about the US, but the minimum cost here is a modern 1000cc engine out of a wreck is $3000.

Dont kow much about putting a 1RR or even a Blackbird engine in a 1F, but engine swaps always end up getting complicated. I reckon you'd be better off getting your existing engined race tuned. If you dont know of a good engine builder head down to your local drag strip or race track and talk to the guys in the pits and see who modifies their engines. I read an article on a bloke who fitted a turbocharger to a CB900. Insane bike. Lights up the rear tyre in5th. 9 second 1/4 mile.

Turbo would definitely be the easist and cheapest solution. You will end up with more power than a 1000RR engine too. Also I'm not sure if Honda continued the trend from the 929/954 but I know that the engine acts as a structural member in those bikes. The frame stops before the swingarm. The swingarm actually bolts to the motor.

Mr Self Destruct, that is one wild ride you got there. Excellent job. It looked a bit tricky getting those manifolds worked out.
I noticed the front end was from a later model bike, good idea fitting monster brakes, the CBRs will stop you it just doesn't feel like they will stop you.
It would great to post some stats if you've got 'em ie bhp, 1/4 mile time, top speed.
