Question Carb Screws

I am thinking of going back into my carbs. My question is; why arethe screws so soft? Last time I opened them, I had to make one a standard (flat-head) to get it out. Also, If I buy some of the same thread type, will I be asking for trouble? IE. strip the carbs instead of screws.

Thanks for the help,
Patrick

I replaced the rail screws with stainless. I believe the smaller were 10mm in length and the larger 14mm in length. They fit great. Make sure you apply anti-seize as the carb body is aluminum which doesn't interact well with stainless.
