Cam chain tensioner...
I think the Boon Islander is having a bad spell and really means Take care of it (ie fix it)
My old 88 rattles like crazy when cold but settles down to a quietish machinegun rattle when warmed up. I may be a bit crazy but I completed a 3700 km trip last year after running only 35 km on the old tart after resurrecting it from a major prang(not mine) it has done 157000 km and I have no idea what has been done to it in its previous life, but I got it real cheap as it was a bit messy so you just never know what to expect as these older moldels are starting to get a bit of age on now.

Do you think her bike could use an "Italian Tune-up"? I know mine does.
Missy, looking at the second video (it may be the camera angle) it kooks like your tachometer is reading near zero at idle. Let's see if the other guys agree.
Under the left hand side cover is the throttle stop adjustment screw. With the bike warmed up and no choke. adjust the screw until the tach. reads about 1000rpm

Definitely looks that way to me.
Yep Woofer - good catch - way too low - hell my own bike makes that
racket down low when you knock back the choke too early when cold
+1 ......... def needs the idle set a lot higher imo too

It's quite easy to tell us apart, I'm the one that's just over fifty, he's the one that's just over sixty. Also I have that nice MacLaren swoosh in my avatar. He can't do that yet because he's the one that's just over sixty.
Also, he's a mechanical engineer so he knows' a whole **** load more what he's talking about than I do.

definately looks like that idle **** hidden behind the vent needs a twisting.
the bikes almost dying on the second vid... should be idling at 900-1100 or so?
maybe needs a new air filter - could be asthmatic.
just wondering also how are you checking your oil level?
on stand with engine warmed at idle and cap unscrewed?
