That's exactly what happened to mine when it went. Now it looks like it is going to fail again. It looks worn. Stupid little plastic part.....poor design.
I may cover the nut with saran wrap and fill the stupid little plastic part with JB-Weld and let her set up. Cheap $$$ fix.

Sometimes I wonder if Honda ever expected the Hurricane to last as long as they seem to do, given hindsight. Silly little plastic parts that may have seemed perfectly adequate on a new design now show up as the weaker links. Ah well, JB weld or new? Or have your local CNC machine shop make you a metal one.

Isn't that the truth above, about the plastic junk on the later models, the 3 way coolant junction was alloy 87-88 then changed to plastic. The R/R was better made on the early models too. The plastic sprocket drive is good when new till about 4-5 years on then your on luck till they crack on the edges, then break. And the early CBR750F model was given a gear drive to eliminate the cam chain tensioner. Why did not all models get that better way of cam timing? Because if they did these things would never see the dealership after they left from new till they were tipped over or misused.
I think Honda did a very good job on the Canes but with just these few changes they would have been one of the greatest bike of all time in many categories and Honda was a little gun shy about gear drives and too reliable bike after the VF1000F/V65 V4 cam/ cam chain fiasco and VF1000R not having any due to the gear drive working so well. Then the 84-86 CBX/CB700/750 Nighthawks never coming back into the dealerships after sold for any maintenance work or dealer services as they don't ever break or need much looking after to run well. The dealerships started to complain about not making any service money.

Yeah Dub,
when the bastards have got a design that won't biodegrade and the dealers become squealers, it's time for the manufacturers to **** up perfection in the guise of fantastic newness. We can all be such suckers eh?
I rode home in record time tonight, had a gas and took a deep breath when I turned the key. WTF would I want to go and buy 13K's worth of new bike when my 20 year old will shatter a 60 mile distance of 1/3rd town, 2/3rd Motorway in 40 mins.
Honda, in 1991 got their calculations 99% correct. The remaining 1% is still on-going.
Your knowledge is legendary Dub!
