NEVER EVERpush brake fluid back though the system, especially old fluid. Doing so can cause major damage on the proportioning valves and master cylinders, and good luck trying to get the valve to re-center afterwards if it gets pushed over. Always open the bleeder screw (s)and THEN push the pistons back into the calipers when replacing pads, using the old pad helps pushing them back at the same time. Once the piston is seated back, close the bleeder screw up and then proceed.Little 1/4 " tubes aid in keeping the garage floor clean too! Less chatter from the wife, the better....

i have pulled apart master cylinder looks like just needs kit put through so ordered today.
Another question i have is i want to replace the resevior hose can i useauto transmission hose as it will be awhile for a original one. Some places say to use auto fuel hose but i am unsure is if true.

 

How will you connect it ? Doesn't your bike have ferrules which connect the heses to the clutch/brakes ? I wouldn't use ANYTHING but proper brake and clutch lines with ferrules on my bike - !!

 

You will need to place the bike on the center stand and spin the rear wheel and then have some one sit on the bike so that the front wheel is off the ground and spin the front wheel. When spinning the wheel look to see if the rotor is warped. A warped rotor will push the break pad against the caliper and you would need to pump the break under breaking. You would also feel a pulsating in breaking if it is warped.

 

Fitted master cylinder kit and bleed it. Worked fine for 4 Days now it is Back to 2 pumps to work so i bleed it again aned heaps of air in line again. Does t his seem to be the master cylinder their is no fluid leaking anywhere just getting air in i thought the master cylinder must be stuffed.

 

Hi, I have the same problem and wondered if the SECONDARY master cylinder might be the problem??
When I lift the left front caliper the rear wheel doesn't stop turning.
When I Brake the foot brake is firmish BUTat stand still when the front brake released(and hence the front left caliper drops back down) the foot pedal drops down so I have to pump the rear brake to hold the bike still (at the lights etc).

The rear brake is so firm after bleeding but within a month it's back to double pump.
