"TrojanCam" or maybe even "DurexCam" ........... fine latex covers
for cameras lol

ya know what they say - "if there's ever any question - just throw a rubber on it"

Shadow, this camera has spiked my interest. The one you came up with a while back was OK for the money but you couldn't see what you are recording. I have many off trail ski runs in the thick of things with that one where I clipped it to my goggles and all you can see is tree tops.

Just got back from a ride up north today. We stopped at a ski slope where they MT bike off the lift and some guys had cameras mounted to their helmets.

They serve no purpose if you can't see what you are recording.

Surely if it's pointed where they are looking ( ya know with a test run vid)
it would not make any difference. I mean looking at a camera screen while
riding , skiing or driving or whatever could have the same consequences
as say maybe texting while driving ? or am I reading this wrong or out of
context somehow.

I'll be using the screen on mine purely as a set up option. I don't intend looking at the screen while I'm riding and I'll put it somewhere where I can't be distracted by it. It will be a handy thing to be able to know where it is pointing and what I am capturing.

Conversely, one could mount 5-6 around the bike and try to drive without acually looking at the 'real world' at all; Virtual CBR1000F, here I come!!

No can do man! I get to a ski slope and put goggles on, take a lift and start recording. At the bottom of the Mt. turn the camera off and head home. At home is the first time I get to see what I recorded and it's top of trees. When you first turn it on it sets the light setting so in the trees everything is dark because I turned it on when on the trail. In Vt we skied a ravine with very steep walls, it was impressive. At home I loaded the clip into the desktop and got ski poles flying all over the place.

Like Bordo says, "It will be a handy thing to be able to know where it is pointing and what I am capturing."

I have no intentions of looking at it while it is recording, I'd get killed hitting a tree.

If you download a program called VLC you can adjust light, etc etc while you watch it. Works very well, small download......

TBT I had to experiment quite a bit with the earlier micro models but once you have them mounted right, you get the shot every time. I use pres stik inside my helmet - no wind noise etc
This one is of course much bigger and having a screen is great - this would never fit inside your helmet like the others, though. It will also probably have more vibration than the small ones inside the helmet............
All we can do is try......

^ The photo cell thing in my camera is soldered to the board slightly off. If I put it on a table it records high. Hey, 12 dol-la no hol-la.
