Default Bigger Diameter brakes on CBR1000F

I have a 1991 CBR1000F and although the brakes are OK, I would like them better. ( already on HH pads )

As a first step to sorting out bigger brakes I have been doing some measuring up.

It looks like I can get the CBR954RR front wheel with its larger discs .( 320mm ) in to the forks of the CBR1000F

The new braking system will be constructed from the master cylinder and calipers froma CBR600F4i ( 4 pot )
These will be held in the correct position by using a pair of VTR1000 SP1 or SP2 caliper mounting brackes.
The SP1 brackets take the parallel mounting lugs from the forks and move the calipers out and up to suit 320mm discs.

Anyone see any issues with the conversion that I have missed ?

This sounds promising. What do you intend to do with the rear wheel?as the front will now be of a larger size.

Don't need to do anything - The 954 front wheel is 17" x 3.5" just like the standard wheel from my 91 CBR1000FL.
Both run a 120 front tyre.

The discs on the 954 wheel are the same distance apart as my current wheel.

I have alredy had a 954 wheel with it's discs mounted in to the CBR1000FL forks and everything fits well.
The only issue now is to find a way of mounting 4 pot calipers in the correct position for the 320mm dia discs.

This is where I hope the VTR1000SP1 brake caliper brackets will succeed.

If not then plan 2 is to have a similar bracket made from aerospace alloy to sit the caliper correctly.

I have been looking for full floaters or wave disks for my 88 with no luck has any one seen some.
We have a company in the UK called "ALL BIKE ENGINEERING" - ABE. They will do wave discs for the CBR1000F at £60 each + postage

Their fitment guide is here - http://www.allbikeengineering.co.uk/...nt_guides.html
