Smile Bar ends update

Hi you guys, just thought I'd update the bar ends. I have taken the info from the replies and turned up some replica originals. Fitted them this morning and took the cane for a 70 mile ride out to test them. The difference is totally amasing. The vibes have all but gone and my hands are not numbe, which is great news and they look so much better too. have put some before and after pictures on so you can see for yourselves.
It was such a nice warm day and the roads were dry I just couldn't ressist the chance to play a bit and can now say that the rear wheel conversion was also well worth doing. So glad I found this site, you guys are full of good info about these bikes. Hope I can help any one else and repay your help. Mind you if there are any other modds that would help make her a better ride, feel free to let me know and I will try them and post the results Malc

Hi mate while reading various threads, I noticed that apart from the balancer shaft adjustment and carb ballance, the bar ends came up as a possible cause of vibes. When I put the original thread on I got I needed the dimentions of the original bar ends because when I bought the bike a few months ago, it had these aftermarket ones fitted. They did not fit properley and were no were near the correct wheight, so Ifigured as I had the laithe and materials in the garage, why not find out if it helps.
fitted them and tested today and the vibes are all but gone. I would say it is down to the weight difference. Old ones weighed about a third of the originals and the ones I made. Hope this helps, if you don't have originals in yours try some and let me know your verdict Malc

Hi mate I used 1 3/4 " billet alley and used a stainless steel allen head bolt for that bit extra weight. Weight yours and see if they are about 13 oz. That is the standard weight so I was informed on here, so I made mine 15 oz so I had room for trial and error. Think I will leave them as they are.
