Question Average life expectancy of a clutch

Anyone got an idea how many miles a clutch is good for on average ?

I'm at nearly 20 k and mine seems to be "getting" there !

Hoping a nice 15w 40 diesel oil change will give me some more borrowed
time. Have only had the bike from 15k so not sure how it was treated
previously either.

My CBR1000F was changed at 30K.

To be honest - for the price of the clutch and spring set - and the fact that it only takes about 20 mins from start to finish when doing the job - I would just change it before the heat of too much slipping warps the steel plates.

Just make sure you leave the new clutch plates soaking in fresh engine oil overnite before you do the job.

You don't even need to drop the oil to do it.

Blackbird is on 26K and clutch still feels good

bad yet .......only when I give her serious wrist action.

Yep - I turned to the dark side - but mainly because bits are easier to get hold of for the blackbird and I got it at a steal of a price.

Wow is it really that easy? I'll read the service manual and put that on my project list. Tires came in today so I'll be attempting to mount them tomorrow.

She's a nice one Dean0 ............ya heretic

Ya I'm trying to nurse this one through to Novemeber and then lay
her up for a CCT , and now a clutch and a bunch of other "to do"
things on my list...........put some nice fresh 15w 40 DELO 400LE in
her tonight and it seems to have helped a bit ....the old oil looked
thinned out and basically shagged.....om sure that was not helping
a tired clutch very much. I'll watch her though if she keeps on
getting worse I 'll grab a set of EBC clutch plates and a camera !
Although I know there's a good set of pics on here somewhere ?? !

Google Rotella T v's Delo 400................. LOL ..........Diesel Oil Wars !

20mins may be a bit of a stretch, I'd say a little over an hour.
However, it usually takes me 20mins just to find the right socket in my garage...
It's not a hard job at all, though...

I don't think you'll get a war out of that one, sprock.... Delo and Rotella are both good oils. I've seen people swear by both of them.

Now if you happened to say that Rotella sucks..... well then I'd have some words for ya!
