That's real interesting, I suppose it'd work.

But if a big rig blows a tire in front of ya with that stuff in there exploding out
all over the highway

Better Get ready and try to drive perfectly dead & straight forget about using your
brakes until your are past it.

Wonder if it's DOT approved for that very reason.

Just tinkin

They put them in the tyres on my truck every time I have a tyre changed. Have to say that I have never had any wheel woble or vibration on the truck since. Hadn't really thought about what happens when I have a blow out. I will ask the tyre fitter next time I see him but they have been using them for years so I guess they have thought of that sort of thing. What you have to remember is the beeds are that small, they are more like a dust than *****

They look small enough to disappear down the first crevice in the road surface and I don't think they use that many . You'd have to be real close behind and as Steve said I think there would be lots of other things for you to worry about!

How Intersting !

Firstly great find, i am currently making a tyre remover and was thinking of buying a balancing machine - so I dont think I will bother now

Secondly (And more interesting for me)

When I google Dynabeads here in the UK I get the result

http://www.invitrogen.com/site/us/en...3000000005592s&

as a first hit - they do look very similar and sound like a similar compound and it is a registered trademark.
They are used in genetic research.
The intersting bit (for me) is that the site is a company called Invitrogen which has just merged with a company called Applied Biosystems to form Life Technologies.

Which is where I work !

As "Old Applied Bio" Staff I dont have much contact with legacy Invitrogen - but I will have to try and do some digging

I think I might try them. In their video, they show a soda bottle attached to a power drill. The bottle wobbles all over the place when the drill's running. A few dynabeads and it smooths right out. Pretty impressive. Today's tires are generally pretty well balanced anyway.
