Any tricks for checking Float level?
I know how basic this is and I can do it fine with other bikes but the four carbs is making it difficult. You check the height with the needle just being touched by the tong right? Is there an easier way than just holding the float and looking at it from the side, then measuring it? There is so much stuff in the way, it makes it hard. Any tricks? Thanks

Pablo ... the way I do them is that I check my plugs first ...pick the plug with the best color and then check that carbs float height first ...
Set all the others to that height ...
I also find that if you have the carbs upside down , let all the floats rest fully down ..... just measure the fully closed position of the one that feeds the best colored plug and then set all the others to the same closed height ...
Trying to gauge the height of the floats by just touching the needle in the open position is way to hard

Pablo, I just did my this weekend, by the book. It was very easy. The method was to let the floats hang then slowly rotate the carbs until the float moves toward closing, but only until the the needle seats, but not to compress the spring in the needle. then just measure from the carb base to the bottom of the float. I used a caliper set to the .54" ,that is what mine were to be set to.
Problem with mine is that they have no way to adjust them. Luckily they were all correct.
Hope this helps.
