Any Iron Butts on here?

Any Iron Butts on here?
Just curious if anybody here has done an Iron Butt ride? From reading some of the threads in the 1000F section, it looks like a few of you have done some long distance rides, but have any of you gone the extra mile to submit your info to the Iron Butt Association?
I think it's something I may try next summer and have been looking at routes around Montana that would make a 1000 mile loop, qualifying me for an Iron Butt "Saddle Sore 1000". That's riding 1000 miles in 24 hours.
Here's one route I was looking at:
But I'm not sure if it would be better to do a loop or point to point ride. If I were to do a point to point ride going south, that would put me in Las Vegas, NV and it would be 1001 miles of 99% 2 lane roads. The loop I posted above is probably about 30% Interstate highway and 70% 2 lane.
Any opinions?

Your point about the loop is quite valid. The thing about a point to point ride is you can bust a$$ to get there, take a day or 2 to recover then ride back at a leisurely pace...
I have plenty of time to figure this out, but would love to hear ALL opinions!

Plus, the road to Vegas is a lot of nothing through the desert.
Did you see Nuttynu's ride?

I promised my wife I'd take her to Deadhorse/Prudhoe Bay next year when she's back on her feet. But that'll be in the Dodge Durango I own and am outfitting for expedition type vacations.

I did an SS2000 (kilometres) back in 2008 on my Kawasaki GTR1000 (Concours). 2,212.5 km in just over 23.5 hours!

All I'll say, is be VERY prepared mentally and your bike thoroughly prepared. Organise your signatories for both ends if not a loop, and one at your turn-around point. Plan your journey. Use a camelback for hydration, sweets in your tankbag.
Having done it, I have no great desire to do another, even though Joy and I have done many 1000/1200km days two up.
Cheers, SB

We ran a long stretch from Cavendish State Park on Prince Edward Island down through
Maine and into the White Mtns of New Hampshire on our Cape Breton trip summer of
2011 - think TBT said we clocked 875 miles or there abouts in 14 hours .....lol
Northern Maine was WOT - nothing but PineTrees and Asphalt
Suggest you work up a few 400 milers for conditioning first Matt
