Welcome back !
I have not heard of anyone having a stator/alternator rewound - I tried and it was a dismal failure, sad to say. Mine was a mk2 90 model, I don't know whether the Mk1 will be more successful....?
You may be better off buying a good secondhand one on e-Bay, as I did.

Found a guy called Henry on the forum. He gave me some great advice and pictures. The parts inside the stator cover can be rewound. West country Windings Harlow Essex UK are specialists in this sort of thing. My local repair shop have said they can do whole job for £65. Going to let them have it. Keep it shiny side up

I bought a complete stator/alternator cover for my Mk2 for $49 from the US.
Price may be a bit high.
Perhaps you could try http://www.electrex.com
They may have a new one for you - they are in the UK.
Much cheaper than Honda, and better.
Cheers

And as Shadow and I can attest to, Electrex UK are great to deal with !
