The unit I took out was non-original and if memory is correct it was Spanish or Italian. The bike had +/- 43,000 miles at the time so that works out at about 20-22,000 miles per shock The Honda unit may have a longer life span, but after 25,000 you've probably had the best out of it.

Steve the only reason I went for a new unit was my son's friend works for a big on line parts Co and I got it at trade price and it just seemed like common sense to fit the front springs at the same time.

It's like a new bike now, problem is I have to re-learn how to judge corner speed, can't wait for the nice hot weather to really push it

Well, last night I adjusted the preload to its highest point, and then down a bit. I does feels a lot better now. I think the preload was in its lowest setting before. Therefore I am not completely sure the shock went bad. Also, I was quickly reading the manual and I founf out that you can adjust the rebound damping too? I didn't know that. So tonight I will try playing with too. I will report back.

@Hawkkwind: thta looks like a pretty nice shock, but I can't afford something like that now. But thanks for the idea, I am a big fan of aftermarket upgrades.

@Sprock: yes, I saw that one too. But since I am not 100% mine is bad, I will let it pass. I still need to get new tires before I spend money on other things.

Yes, I saw those already, since there is nothing in the US. But then the shipping could be wuite expensive.

hey hawk, do you think we could arrange a purchase/ship for that new Hagon shock on UkEbay? I'm in the US...maybe I could paypal you the $$ and you could have it shipped to you, then send it to me? I can't get anything aftermarket near that price..

Let me know...thanks!

(not sure if my budget has the $$ atm, but I'm gonna try to work it out)

I have looked into this before and the cost of shipping has always been so high that it would be the same cost to buy a new unit in the states.

If you have any ideas on how to reduce the cost of shipping, or could arrange it cheaper from your side of the pond I'd be happy to help out

Hey guys, one more stupid question: Where exactly do you adjust the rebound of the rear shock? Is it the little phillips screw at the bottom of the shock? In mine it only makes half a turn, and I cannot really tell the difference between the two positions. Does this makes sense?

Thanks again.

Turn that screw in, clockwise, gently until it just bottoms. Don't force it further. This is the maximum rebound damping setting. The stock setting is about 1/2 turn out. There's a dot on the screw and the shock. When these line up you have the std. setting. Turn in to increase damping, turn out to decrease it.

Hawkwind,
Can you adjust the preload on the Hagon with it mounted on the bike? Would it be worth getting the remote preload adjuster? Would you recommend the Hagon replacement if my stock shock is still working?
