Default 88 mk1

So I am the now proud owner of a Hurricane. It is bone stock, has around 15K miles, has had a recent tune up which included a carb rebuild and sync. I own a few other bikes but not this model. Can anyone tell me what kinds of problems or weaknesses I might be faced with (cam chain noise)? Also, not that I'm planning on tearing it up, but any upgrades? Coil changes, bypass relays to the coils, springs......

Thanks for the Help!!

i think if you look after her well you wont have any real issues, they can have a bit of cam chain rattle, sometimes the fuel pump can play up (bypass and gravity feed) and there is a stick coil mod as well as a cct mod,if you have a browse at the how to`s section you will find all the info you need, hopefully you will get years of pleasure out of the old girl

Hey man, I to am a proud owner of a 88 Mk1. I've owned it for most of its life and never had to many issues with it. I'm just getting it back together and running after eight years of neglect or deferred maintance one might say. I put a 4-1 header on from the get go and yes I have no center stand now but I did a jet kit in the carbs (bigger) at the same time. My point being is my bike always fired off using full choke (without switching it back and forth). Maybe it's the damp weather up here in Wa. I think my honda gots about 35,000 miles and counting. I also have a FJ-1200 Yamaha and a way too new Roadking and I prefer the Honda cause ah,...well it's a great machine I guess that's it. You'll love it.

I have an 87 I saved from the scrap yard and like wheel nut said the two things I've done are bypassed the fuel pump (be sure to use the tank shutoff if you do this) and the stick coils. The stick coils made a huge difference in starting, throttle response, and overall smoothness. If I had another bike it would be the first thing I did.

I also put a pair of Buel Ulysses pegs in it. The buel pegs are about an inch lower and made a big deference in comfort.
