If I'm at a set of lights and the fan comes on, I can hear it (with helmet on), and so can people in cars close to me.
Can be hard to hear if loud traffic around you.
I don’t think a PC fan would do much, if you sit at lights in neutral, then connect it to the neutral circuit.
That way it will come on when you are stopped, mostly

Actually, if you run a wire from the fan sensor (down the bottom LH front from memory) through a switch that goes to any conveneient ground, the fan will still come on automatically as before, but when you throw the switch the fan will come on and stay on until you open the switch (providing the the engine isn't too hot when you do) again.
You must leave the original wire in place and add the extra wire that goes to the switch. A single pole single terminal switch is what you need.
Here in Oz, I've found it a big help in preventing the buildup of heat while going slowly or idling. There is little doubt though when the fan comes on since it's clearly adible even with helmet on and in traffic.
I don't think the PC fan will do anyting at all except get gummed up.
Cheers

RE: 88 1000f seems to run hot
Good evening all
My CBR1000F 88 , was doing the same thing, did not take the chance after 19 years better change those componant they are not that expensive and can save you from a lot of trouble, Iflushed the coolant, changed the thermoswitch and the thermostat, now the fan is kicking when it get to past the halfway mark..Also I did put a manual switch just in case I get caught in trafic and don't want to wait for the fan to start automatically .
