So there is a bike that is in cosmetically good condition. It needs the carbs rebuilt. The bike was lost from the rider in a divorce (I know I know) but I lost mine due to a woman also. I don't even know what a fair asking price would be for the bike. I do know it has 20k miles on it. Also I'm worried about the power of a 1990 (or lack there of). Anybody know how much turbochargers are for them or where to look for them? I've had a 96 cbr 600f3 (hit a deer) and a 95 cbr 900rr (stupid woman)...

I bought mine in a "locked up" state for 900 bucks ( see my least thread for the full details ) but as far as the turbos go i havn't seen one made specifically for the 1000f engine. Although here is a video of a 1988 CBR 1000f with a turbo custom made for it

Well I was talking to spicymeowmix about it and he was talking about some sort of carbs that added 12hp to his cbr 900 blade. Anybody know where I can get carbs for this bike? And I'm not sure if it runs. Should find out tomorrow. This woman knows nothing about this bike. She got it in her divorce.

 

Funny, I was going to mention $900 as an asking price.
But... that's if it's in decent condition.
If it doesn't run, you want to know that you can at least part it out for that 900 you're putting into it. With a non-running bike, you just never know. I think the odds are in your favor with a 20k mile 1kf, but....

As for turbos, I personally wouldn't even go there. What a major pain in the *** money pit. And these bikes are pretty fast anyway. I don't really know why you'd need to go any faster than 160mph or so. I went up a couple teeth in the rear on mine and it does 150mph, but gets there a bit quicker.

The 1000F is just a good, dependable, comfortable, and pretty fast sport-touring bike.

 

Yes I mean the cheaper the better of course I'd offer 900 too, depending on what it looks like overall.

 

Yep, it could be worth more than that. If you can get it running and it's not trashed, you've already won. lol...

+ 1 with Trout here as well. Don't f&ck with perfection. You'll regret it. If 130 hp isn't enough save your money and get a Blackbird or something. I've got an 89 and it pulls like a freight train. Just a huge money pit that wont yield you anything more than grief.
