87' Hurricane starting issues
So I have this CBR 1000 and I do not know much about it so I figured I'd try to enlist the help of some experts. My problem is, I received the bike that was not ridden in about a year and so I charged the battery to see if would start. It would not start even with a fully charged battery so I figured mabey something was wrong with the clutch master cylinder because it looked bad. So I replaced it and changed the clutch fluid. I tried starting it again and it turned over, which is what I was looking for. Then I had an idea to clean the contact points on the wiring harness and when I went to start it again, the solenoid just clicked when I pressed in the starter button. I inspected the points where wires plug into the solenoid behind the fuse and they were in poor condition, so I fixed the wiring and checked out the solenoid which seemed fine. I can jump the points on the solenoid to get her to turn over, however I really don't want to burn anything up doing that. Any suggestions as to what I should do?
Thanks,
Ryan

Does it turn over fast or slow? I don't think you'll burn anything up by jumping the solenoid. My buddy did it for about a year on his raptor 660 quad. It's still okay. It sounds like that solenoid is bad though. Might have to do some e-bay shopping.......

The starter turns over normal if I jump it but when I press the starter button the neutral light dims in. I do not know much about motorcyle ignitions, the only real bike work I've done is restore a 73' RD350 which I love and there's not much for a wiring harness. I'll keep an eye out for a solenoid though, thanks.
