Default 387,908km's? Bulletproof motor or a typo perhaps

Thinking of selling my CBR1000FL later this year to upgrade to something newer... looking around to see what others have been selling for and saw this:

http://www.autotrader.com.au/iteminf...75_kw_cbr1000f

What the... 387,908km's!?!?!

Has to be a misprint! Either that or these motors really are bulletproof!!

the odometer don't do 100000k readings and if it did it would not be worth 3500 for a 89

I saw a report from someone on the Forum who saw one with 127000 miles (204 000 K's) and I guess with the long distances Downunder it's possible......My friend Des has a Goldwing with...993 000 K's on it, so far, so anything's possible with a Honda I s'pose. Asking price is silly with that mileage tho'[8D]

I can show you one with 122,000 miles. There's even pics of it on this board when it only had 90,000 on it... on the track... running with the race bikes. It is still sitting incomplete from a prettygood crash but has been mechanically repaired and test ridden, just no cosmetics completed. I found a new one (to me), identical, but will still finish putting something together from the old one. Got some ideas but will keep it mum for now.

Just used for cruising and with reasonable maintenance I'd say it's very doable. Mine was maintained well but also run very hard for much of its life... this far.

Actually I'd guess it's probably more like 38,790k's and 800 metres - i.e. the last eight is the hundreds of metres but they've probably assumed it to be kilometres. Probably would have gone around the clock and done only 138,790k's (and 800 metres). If that's the case obviously it's not the sellers bike as he doesn't know how the odometer works. Good luck selling it none-the-less advertising it at those kind of k's!

Yep ditto... my FL has just clicked over on the clock and sitting on 520k's now (100,520k's) and still runs great. No problems whatsover except the odd tick on warm up from the CCT/CC which is common on much less k' bikes.

In reality I don't know how many real k's this thing has done as since I've had it (from 92,500k on the odo) it has been with a different ratio sprockets and it was like it when I got it. I have to sit on 122-125kph to sit on actual 110kph... therefore on a 1000km actual trip my odometer clocks 1120k's. So depending on how long this bike has been geared this way it potentially might have only done 90,000k's all up.

I met a guy a Phillip Island last year with a 91 model with over 200k on it, engine had no major work done to it and he said he thrashes it:P (I saw it had 3000k on the clock and said 'thats bugger all mate!' he replied 'its gone over 100k twice now'.
Another guy there had a VFR750 with 250k on the clock and still running fine. Honda build a solid engine
