Unhappy 1988 hurricane clutch....

So I got this bike a few weeks back, and have been tinkering a little with it. It needs help. Here is my current issue.

I tore the slave cylinder apart, flowed new fluid in at the top, and out at the bottom. put slave cylinder back together with old rubber( I know, I know). And reassembled it. When I squeeze the clutch, it has pressure on it, but the clutch does not disengage. BUT, The slave cylinder actually moves away from the engine. I mean, it flexes the case.

Obviously, I have to take the actual clutch apart, but this seems very strange. I am not sure what to expect inside there.

What is a good quality clutch replacement online?
Where can I get replacement seals online?
Any chance the clutch rod is hanging inside?

So was the clutch not working before you tore the slave apart?
If it was working fine before, my guess is that you re-installed something wrong in the slave? Internal leak? That's kinda strange, though.

Have you downloaded a shop manual yet? That would be a good place to start if you haven't. It is located here (Courtesy of Trips): CBR Service Manual PDF

As far as a clutch disk kit, you can get them anywhere. Bike bandit has ebc kits for about $75, and they are all over fleabay, too.

However, I'd guess that you'll have to tear it apart and find out what's binding first.

no it wasn't working to start, i figured trash in the line, or air. but it is not leaking into the case. When it is out of the bike(slave) and i pull the handle, it pushes the piston out a little, and if i squeeze real hard, i can get the fluid to go back to the resorvoir. Thanks for the shop manual link. I think the slave works properly, and it is after that in the full system. I can't imagine clutch or basket failure, I am thinking pushrod a little more now.

I have not ridden this bike, and have not seen it run. The clutch felt empty before, but had fluid in it, and upon proper drain and bleed, I got motion. Just want to kick the bike around the block to see what all i need to do before she is worthy.

Thanks for the relocate buddy!
