Default Question about pipes

Hi Gang,

I'm looking around for a Pipe for my 99 CBR F4. Now I have found one for a f4i. ( It's a Hindel) will this fit my bike?

The changes between the F4 and f4i engine are minimal and the exhaust is interchangeable, the capacity of the silencer is the same and theoretically it will work on any 600cc 4 cylinder engine if tuned correctly. Here's how it works;

600cc's is 600cc's whether its fuel injected or not, 1 cylinder = 150cc's x4=600cc's so you are only dealing with 150cc's of exhaust volume per power stroke as these bikes are fired sequentially. (ex.1432, 1423, and so on). The differences betwwen different engines lie in volumetric efficiency or voulme of air flow at given engine speed. This is mainly due to differences in airbox design/volume, valve sizes, # of valves, valve lift and duration and exhaust midpipe design, muffler design/volume. but even after all that 600cc's is still 600cc's.
There is not that great a difference , in my opinion, between these 2 engines that some clever tuning could not overcome. there vavle sizes are similar, the f4i's made a little more power on top I think (they flow more air) but not enought o make a serious difference, and airbox volume is similar. I suspect the only area that you would need to tune for would be the very top of the rev range (last 1000-1500 rpms) but probably not. A good aftermarket jet kit will solve most of that. The last hitch would be if there was a fitting for an oxygen sensor in the pipe that would need to be plugged. I have seen f4i pipes run on f4's and they do work.

It should be fine, as long as the midpipe diameter mates to the collector outlet it will bolt right up. You might need to fab and adapter or have the midpipe flanged, but I believe tha the stock exhaust's are identical betwwen the 2 bikes. if it is a full system you shouldn't have a problem
